    Craig is correct in his comments. A summit is bigger than any single past wrong. Was it wrong to accept Russian entry into WW2 because of Stalins purges?

    Tragic as it was, and no doubt still is for family members, there is no gain in going over and over such matters to the exclusion of other areas requiring attention. As 90% of nuclear weapons are held by US and Russia, we need to find more things we agree on, and not rehash things that only serve to divide.

    Would it be useful for Putin to raise drone strikes? Maybe he did in the confidential discussions.

    I don't think there is any credible suggestion Mr Putin knew of or approved firing missile at MH17. Seems to me most likely it was an accident, but the biggest fault lies with Malaysian Airlines for not following other airlines in detouring around thus airspace.

    I simply cannot think of anything Russia stood to gain. Not convinced it wasn't Ukraine false flag strategy to discredit the Crimean rebels.
