The Liberals have had 2 new female candidates, Lucy Wicks and Karen McNamara, working in the 2 Central Coast seats, Robertson and Dobell, for over a year now. They have a big headstart in Dobell.
The southern, more affluent seat - Robertson - should have delivered govt. to Abbott in the last election, but was surprisingly pipped by Labor when they shuffled the crazy Belinda Neal out the backdoor and just squeaked over the line by making 11th hour assault accusations against the Lib candidate - local detective, surflifesaver and rugby player, Darren Jamieson. In typical ALP fashion the accusations were made so late, that there was not time for them to effectively refuted in the couple of days before the election.
Thompson will not get ALP preselection in Dobell. I think it will go to Emma McBride, daughter of former state Labor MP Grant McBride (member of the infamous Obeid Terrigals gang).If you do a little digging, there is always some filth uncovered with the modern ALP.
But Labor has a problem in that they can't punt Thommo at the moment because they are insisting that everyone else adhere to the 'innocent until proven guilty' line.
