Thanks for the informative description of what/how/why an upthrust may occur, it certainly helps in adding to, the vast array of info we receive and can view/learn from over here in the XJO thread, ta
Going back to my original post, it being in a weekly timeframe, your comment

That is very true, and if we just stay with that and ignore the smaller movements (daily) imo it may help to make things a little clearer.
ie. if a daily upthrust appears, it will obviously not be visible on the weekly but just form part of possibly a bullish (weekly) bar/s, but of course if may also be part of something more (weakness) and that will be taken from what appears over the next few bars
The chart below is a big look at our XJO on the weekly and in particular have panned back and taken note of what has occurred around this particular week over the last 3years.
bit of fun I guess, but anyway its fairly easy to see that leading up to and during the last 2Aprils (highs) there was no intention on the part of the market for higher prices at the time
