Who's going to [ay for the current Government handouts of $180 Billion & most of it to small businesses & airlines etc . This is about 10% of our GDP and three quarters of our annual tax take. We are facing a major recession and our unemployment rate is set to double (Qantas alone has retrenched 20,000 & Virgin is on the ropes. -Tourism has just been killed off -enrollment of foreign students ( a big export earner) has been gutted -Pubs, clubs, resturants & cafes are virtually shut down -Our Government debt is now over $1.1 Trillion -Gen X & Gen Y are maxed out with debt Who's going to pay the $330 mil earmarked for Qantas & Virgin? IMO we should be looking to Big Business like miners who have not yet been cruelled by Corvid-19. Right Wingers on these threads advocate low tax and small Government yet when the Capitalist System goes into meltdown like now and during the GFC, its the PAYE working stiff that has to foot the bill. If we dont believe in Government handouts, then have the guts to come out and object now and let the small businesses, the tourist & Airlines go down the gurgle. Someone has to pay and it should be Big Businesses' turn now; particuluarly the Multinationals and if they refuse to pony-up, then nationalising the minerals is one of many options. IMO but doubling the State Royalties would be a preferred option

We advocate low government involvement in normal circumstances, bit times like this, you load the government rocket launcher and you fire hard. We all know times will be tough, but i don't mind putting in extras if it gets us out of this hole in the short term, just don't destroy my wealth!
