Furthermore are you absolutely ignorant of the thousands of jobs that iron ore and coal mining supports, plus the plethora of other non-royalty taxes paid by the industry.
Don't kill the goose that lays the golden egg! Look at what happened in Venezuela and several African countries when natural resources are nationalised. Politicians steal the wealth or squander it, the industry becomes inefficient and the citizens become poorer.
You have too much faith in government, if Australians want a greater share of their natural resource wealth, buy shares in mining companies!!!! Don't just expect government handouts.
