Apologies Hawkers , once I reread that I realised I could've worded that better .

What I meant to say . Some European countries had general unemployment of 25% + and youth unemployment of 40% + .
Compared to Australia , general unemployment in the 6% range.

I realize our youth employment would be higher but I didn't mention a number as I have no idea what it is .

I am actually a critic of the headline type statement that seems to be popular on hc so I hope that clears it up for you .

That said , the point of the post still stands though . Compared to many other countries , we are still doing pretty well . I just hope we get a majority govt at this election and that whoever gets in can make the most of the fortunate position that Australia is in .
