That is a scenario. There was a French movie based on collapse from oil depletion and some guy in a trading house was the ultimate hero putting all the positions into rising POO.
But then worlwide governments decided oil was too important, ceased trading oil on exchanges and commenced rationing. The hero sent the trading house broke overnight as all the positions became worthless.
But that sort of thing would be a long way down the track, preceded by many big spikes.
Maybe you did drink some out from the glass?
Anyway at least the recent buyers must mean more long termers at a higher level.
