Tell that to those who qualify as emerging nations who are happy to commission a new coal fired power station each week for the year.
Perhaps we should question the ICCC’s position related to the free pass that these emerging nations get if we have run out of time?

We just don’t have the technology available to replace the old system at the moment and it will take a huge financial commitment to get us (the world) to the next generation energy system.

First world nations rightly so are bearing the financial costs associated with this journey but these nations need results quickly because if we stumble, even just a bit the possibilities of our endeavours for a cleaner future will crumble just like our societies.

Then we slip down to second or third world status and have to rely on those emerging nations to take up the baton?
Do you see these nations following the path of economic destruction (if that is what happens)?

The idea that imminent destruction is at the door is questionable, based on scientific knowledge today.
That doesn’t mean it is rubbish or even undeniable as the climate system of the earth is a complexity beyond the sum of knowledge at this point. (IMO)

The idea that we can fight/fix the climate is absurd but we should have a chance of managing issues as we continue the journey towards a better understanding of it.

I won’t be watching Greta, I’ll be looking for sensible scientific research that doesn’t scream the Sky is falling.
Those articles are aimed at people’s insecurities rather than scientific knowledge.
