This is a good question. Retailers of white labelled products, like Kogan and Aldi mobile are able to price so competitively because they assume you won't use what you have purchased. By that I mean that if they sell you a 20GB/m plan they will only buy around 5GB from the network. This works well until everyone actually wants their 20GB and Kogan have to buy more - making a loss on every sale. The same has happened to the NBN. NBN co is having real problems because the retailers aren't buying the bandwidth they have sold under the assumption that the customer pool won't all use it anywhere near the capacity at any time.Â
