1985-1999 - a house was a third to half of the price as it is now.
1985-1999 - Fuel was half of the price today.
1985-1999 - A bottle of milk was a third of the price of today.

Quoting historical commodity figures is meaningless in today's markets. Everything is getting more expensive and its as simple as that. IO at this price IS the new bottom and we are not going back to the 80s in prices eg 17 per tonne unless we can all travel back in time machines like Marty Mcfly. Get used to it.
