re: australia ....choked... 434 on that ground was only worth 350 on any Australian ground and whilst that is still a big score, it was never out of the question that SA might achieve the target and they did.

Gibbs and Smith played brilliantly aided by some ordinary bowling, similar to the type of bowling that Australia faced....the South African bowling was also average.

Bracken's dropped catch was a crucial miss but hey, if you've played much cricket you would know that it's not hard to put one down.

Unlike you, I think Ponting erred by not allowing Michael Clark to bowl out his ten....he was one of the most economical bowlers.

Anyway, Australia lost....can't win 'em all....good character building stuff.....let's hope for a win in the test series........that's the real cricket....this one day stuff is just a very mediocre curtain raiser for mine.
