Nothing to do with President Wilson, US public never would of supported a war against Germany at that time, and neither would Congress approve a vote for it.
You also have to consider the U-Boat war WW1 and reasoning of Germany's move to unrestricted submarine warfare and the "Zimmerman Telegram".
Those two everts finally enabled Wilson to gain public opinion for war and pass a declaration of war against Germany in Congress.
