I live in an electorate that votes about 70% labor, 20% liberal (when a candidate contests) and a dash of smaller independents fill the gap.
Even though labor has held this landslide majority here for over 30 years they haven't invested anything in this electorate when they were in power - simple to see why, whilst people vote so strongly for labor here it's a given we will keep the seat no matter what.
Likewise liberals rarely even contest the seat because it's a waste of resources trying to win the unwinnable.
But people still vote labor with such gusto they have an almost political cult like following.
Sadly it says something about people's ability to understand that until you make the seat marginal you will always get what you have got - nothing!
