It's not just the loss of trees. Palm oil plantations destroy biodiversity. A rich tropical forest with hundreds of species of flora and fauna is replaced by a monoculture that has about the same ecological diversity as a paved parking lot. The little Chinese lady's job doesn't have anything to do with protecting the environment, does it? Because hubby oversees a huge acreage of environmentally destructive monoculture (palm oil estates) and that just doesn't jive, does it? With her hubby worth over a billion dollars, why would our little Chinese lady take a job that pays around $42,000/year? Could it be to help keep the heat off the agricultural foundation of hubby's environment-destroying empire and to maybe pick up a little on the side for herself as a Beijing stooge? Just asking'.
