    I don't think that we face energy shortage problems

    Reasons

    There appears to be a huge reserve of carbon based energy. Whether or not we should be using it is a topic for debate. The point that I'm making is that it's available.

    There are plenty of non-carbon energy sources available. Sure some are still in their infancy, but will be available, IMO, when developed to the extent that they compete, economically, with carbon based energy. These include
    • Solar
    • Wind
    • Tide
    • And of course the one that is currently out of favour, Fusion atomic energy.
    • The ability to harness fission energy is an interesting prospect.
    Plenty of energy, to last for a long time.

    Sorry, I got these the wrong way round.

    Fission is well developed; we are still working on fusion.
