Critical time for MPL

    It is a critical time for MPL.

    If wins battle with Calvary then there will be expectations to negoiate with all hospital groups for similar outcome. This being reduced pricing and reduced risk with respect to "quality" (e.g. unplanned readmissions).

    Calvary is not material to MPL however Healthscope (HSO) and Ramsay (RHC) are.

    How will other insurers play it ? Will they go for market share grab? Certainly all health insurers actuaries and accountants will be busy modelling certain scenarios.

    MPL has a long history of stuffing up negotiation prcesses ( tender withdrawn due to data "issues", ACCC issues with contracts).

    MPL has a great brand, I wish it would stick to making health insurance a fantastic product. Then shareholders would see great value.
