Both streptokinase and urokinase have been used for stroke management in the <3hr timeframe where a CT has shown evidence of infarction (blockage) in Qld for several years. I have used these products both in an ED setting and ICU setting at various times.
They have also been used for clearing coronary arteries, prior to primary angioplasty becoming more commonplace for MI.
Agree totally that time is critical.
Use FAST to Remember the Warning Signs of a Stroke
Column 1 Column 2 Column 3 1 FACE: Ask the person to smile. Does one side of the face droop? 2 ARMS: Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward? 3 SPEECH: Ask the person to repeat a simple phrase. Is their speech slurred or strange? 4 TIME: If you observe any of these signs, call 000 immediately.
