I'm a live and let live guy myself. We don't have many nasties though, a few green ants and paper wasps is just about it. If I can avoid them they can live another day. They both predate insects so what is there not to like?
I see green tree snakes occasionally and creepy crawlies are no big deal but one day I moved a piece of wood and there was a snake asleep under it. No. 1 son was home [fearless] so he grabbed a sack-bag, put his arms inside it and flicked the snake up while inverting the bag. So I had a snake in a bag. Any sane person would simply move it quickly. Not me.
I [smart arse] wanted to know what it was. Took it to the ambulance station and around, but they know how to keep me alive if I've had a heart attack.Snakes? None the wiser I decided to take it near the city dump and release it but by now now it was warm and it was angry. I tipped it out of they bag and instead of fleeing in gratitude the bastard reared up at me! I had a rake and was protecting myself with that until I got lucky and flicked him back until he hung up on the fence.
