Making an argument from a position of authority is dumb.
7 years of study and a PHD in front of your name does not make you an expert in the field that you are speaking - especially in the field of Economics, which is arguably not even an 'expert' field, as evidence by the consistently wrong forecasts made by the top Economists.
Fact is either one's argument is good, or it is not.
Siting one's credentials as a basis for an argument is a really bad way of making an argument - site what they are saying is wrong, instead of just saying they don't have the properly enumerated qualifications of your choice.
