E-pay Asia non-executive director John Croft is currently looking to bring more overseas players to AIM, heightening the cosmopolitan flavour of the ‘new Nasdaq’. Boasting more than 20 years’ experience with technology companies, Croft is a non-executive director of Future Route, a predictive software technology company. As chairman and chief executive of retailer Streets Online, he led its sale to Kingfisher. Croft recently played a key role in the listing of e-pay Asia on both AIM and the Australian market, through a reverse takeover of troubled wireless broadband outfit SkyNetGlobal.
E-pay Asia, set up in 1999, is the largest provider of pre-paid mobile top-up airtime in Southeast Asia. Fast-growing and profitable, it forecasts net earnings this year of nearly £3 million on £360 million sales.
Croft says the company increased profits 46 per cent between 2001 and 2005 on sales up 55 per cent. He sees further growth in a switch from scratch cards to pre-paid top-up in new markets such as China.
