I think you may be right in this case (and for the other stocks which saw special portfolio crossings).
It is likely some assets were moved from one part of ANZ/ML to another. I would imagine that clients will be contacted and told how to refund their margin loans.
This should avoid Tony having to do a roadshow to his new shareholder :)
