    As stated in my previous post Dr. Jayabalan must refer to Radon-222 in the Uranium-series. Radon-222 is the Radon all articles on radiation protection refer to (due to it's half-life, please take the time and read the wikipedia text on Radon). To me the statement "thousands of miles" is exaggerated (Radon-222 has a half-life of 3.8 days).

    If you ensure that Thorium doesn't get get blown away with e.g. ashes you don't have to worry on the Radon. To my understanding that is what Lynas wants to do.

    Remark:
    To be precies IF Thorium(!) gets inhaled then Radon-220 would be created (along the radioactive series) within the lungs and then IF it was of significant dose would do harm. For me it is important to take measures to avoid an that the workers inhale Thorium! But again to my understanding that is what Lynas wants to do. I haven't seen an argument from the anti-lynas side in the long list of arguments that they fear for the health of the workers.
