Yep, I had one company, Uniti, even told the market it had interested parties looking to acquire, then delivered exceptional financial results, then inexplicably, the share price fell 30%, before making a slight recovery just before the takeover was announced. I couldn’t find any explanation for the fall, other than it brought the valuation to a more acceptable level for the takeover to proceed. Of course, the little bounce right before the announcement we can put down to insider trading.
All this is unproven, of course. If anyone can rationalise differently, I’m all ears.
