Hey Harry,
Great question and I can only go from the conversations I had had in the past, plus from a few friends who speak to SL quite regularly.
Suffice to say, SL is IMHO... (huge grain of salt!), likely to stay onboard as non-exec for the near term, as I explain below, he is not taking the position for the hell of it, when SL does something, he goes all in. I expect he wants to test his skill set (which again, I touch on below) to sleuth out just what else Mt Magnet, Cue and Penny have still undiscovered, let alone at Dalgaranga. That being said, Simon is..... a very motivated person and it would not surprise me to see him take on another position soon, but... not until after the merger of course. Whether that would be an MD role, eh.... I can only guess on that one.
Whilst I am sure he would like to help out WA8, I just get the feeling that he would sort of want... even more of a challenge than that, i.e... something that is actually in production, but perhaps not fully... ah... meeting it's fully potential (both operationally and exploration wise). I am being cryptic because I have a few thoughts as to what he has his eyes on (others do to!).
Hey @RooBendigo I appreciate you have differing opinions to mine and there is a multitude of reasons for that. I don't discount that in the future I may look back and ponder what might have been if they had stayed the course, but... for better or worse, the market massively rewards companies with multiple mining hubs (or.... soon to be in the case of CMM and EMR).
As you point out, there is a little nuanced in the presentations regarding SL and exploration and.... if I can be honest, I can only explain further if we ever catchup at a mining conference
Hopefully the highlighted part below gives more credence to my ponderings.
As for SLs genius, I think he would chuckle at that. I think what he is best at.... is supporting those that are most likely to achieve the best results.
That for me... is SLs secret sauce and hopefully.... in time, SL will be able to spread a little sauce throughout the greater RMS assets. What I do know for a fact is that RMS has not done a lot of drilling compared to it's peers (ignoring infill, I am talking about going after real targets).
We will see!
