Decoupling of oil price from WTI is good for those producers in the SE Asian region. Tapis and Minas are the local benchmarks and are now trading at a 35% to 40% premium to WTI.
IMHO, the decoupling reflects the increase of demand for crude in China as opposed to the decrease in the US which tends to get the headlines.
Any thoughts?
