Catlover, cruise control may make you less attentive as you are no longer controlling the cars speed. So if something did happen, you may hit the brakes suddenly possibly causing a loss of control.
I'm no expert but that's the way I see it and I use cruise control. Although the car has esp which may save my bacon should something happen.
