Consistent with predictions made at the end of 2018 by a number of individuals this year 2019 is seeing the death of altcoins . The death is hidden as consolidation when compared with USD but is very clear when compared with BTC . BTC dominance at the moment is at 70.7% having risen by 37% over the past three months . This is an indication of money flowing into BTC but not moving on to other coins in any significance. In theory the altcoins could start to move again but it would require widespread interest most likely from individuals who are ignorant of where they are putting there money as happened in 2017. I would rate the chances of seeing that sort of performance twice in a lifetime on the same investment as remote. Individuals would be scared off by the history of altcoins . As I have posted before it is not a matter of looking for a magic price for BTC or dominance of BTC but widespread interest from the non investing public as evidences by google searches for BTC and exchanges being unable to keep up with the demand from new holders. This market differs from 2017 in that there is a higher proportion of fund money entering the market. Some may see 20,000 BTC at which the new altcoin market is started up , but for it to succeed it has to get over the fear that has been created by so many people losing their money the last time around .
