Family member ! That is sad , I am probably the sharpest pencil in the box in my family. So far , at least for me , Nippy is probably on the money.
I must say , the processes you describe do not fill me with a lot of confidence. If anything I am reminded of 6 decades ago ,people climbing on factory roofs and knicking the lead flashing. It was always a chore to make sure the scrap metal guy didn't rip you off.
So , it has to poke its nose [ the crypto I mean] out of it burrow , then traverse the hazards[ and it seems those hazards have worsened?] of that , to somebody , or something , who is willing to give you fiat for it. So really , you have to ask yourself what sort of premium is reasonable for Bitcoin, over fiat ,to compensate you for the extra risk and trouble?
