Over the last 12 months, the fund has underperformed the ethereum price by 1.4%. There annual fee of 1.25% is on top of this. There is also a $500 creation fee for each purchase, a $500 redemption fee, and a 0.5% sell spread. Some of the fees only apply to "authorised participants".
It uses coinbase.
So I am back to looking at online brokers again.
