For some people crystallising the capital loss would be a better outcome than getting say 5c or 10c per share. For example if you have a large holding at 20c and a huge capital gain this year then absolutely yes it would be far more convenient to claim the loss this financial year. You have to beg to KM to approve the transfer of shares though. Otherwise I m sorry but you will have to pay the tax to Turnbull by 31 October.
