My theory on the swings is the activities of convertible notes holders who convert at a price that involves a 15% discount to the market price, hold for a while but find a direct equity stake not to their liking and bail out at any price that leaves them ahead on the conversion.
As I recall, conversion windows occur twice yearly - June and Dec.
