There are alot of dead and dying trees including patches of forest (plantation and natural bush) right now. It's cause is a combination of over-clearing land for agriculture over many years followed by flooding rains that leads to puddling of water, elimination of oxygen in soils and the re-emergence of our old friend salinity.
This is a well trodden path - doen't make it any nicer to behold but almost certainly nothing to do with CSG.
