Proponents of nuclear power seem to be living in some sort of parallel universe, not quite synched with reality.

Australia doesn't have nuclear power generation at the moment because the business types that operate in the industry aren't stupid.

they see the much cheaper power generated by renewables and know they can't compete, so they don't.

    their inactivity speaks volumes.

and so does the momentum in solar, wind and batteries, installation in all these moving ahead in leaps and bounds.

the change of federal govt brought policy certainty and the industryis responding.

the whole nuclear debate is pretty much fake anyway.

the policy vacuum that is the federal opposition under the execrable Dutton were in desperate need to talk about something other than themselves and exhumed the debate, which had been buried by J.W. Howard a generation ago.

Scott the only way nuclear is inevitable is if some overseas operators can convince the next LNP govt to help fund a facility, provide a angenerous taxation regime and rig the NEM to favor nuclear.

but this won't happen as much as LNP govts love to sell out Australia..The LNP have got form.

there's no doubt the transition to renewables is underway and gaining momentum, and its driven by lower costs, ie market forces.

.My only concern is that there's over-investment in this sector, diverting investment from elsewhere. Remember, power generation isn't an end in itself, its what it facilitates which is the important thing.
