I'm sorry, but I find your linkage of a fire (natural disaster or arson) detrimental to the coal industry laughable.
Things like this happen from time to time. No doubt the incident is most unfortunate but I think its drawing a long bow to think this will hinder coal or other industries in the region. Maybe some short-term flack, some sabre rattling, possibly a review of existing procedures regarding mine safety but that will be all IMO.
What if a factory went up in smoke, and it was found to be a wiring issue on the production floor - do you think the community would demand they bugger off and lose jobs in the process ?
What about those that live close to a National Park, and live in perennial risk relating to smoke and fire hazards in summer - should they also have a detrimental view on the Parks and Wildlife association as a result of all of those pesky trees and tinder being so close to their homes ?
Seriously, shake yourself for such a remark !
