I must apologise for saying 'floods', I should have said rainfall. Sorry, I'm not 100% across this as I'm lucky enough to have avoided the disaster (this time) by living in VIC. Flooding is not a major problem here, but we can manage one hell of a bonfire from time to time .
So let's talk record rainfall then. The year (or the La Nina event) is not over yet either.. No doubt the dams that were built since the 1800's have somewhat reduced the impact of flooding compared to what it could have been.

On the other side of the world though (and the other end of the same La Nina event) severe drought and record low-levels in lake Mead continue..

    Nothing to see here.

"You can skate around the issue all you like with examples like Germany, but at the end of the day they clearly miscalculated their ability to meet their own energy needs through renewable sources, and as a result they are now dependent on a country they are in a proxy war with (Russia) and also having to restart those 'awful' coal fire power stations."

No, sorry, you're still wrong. They decided to move from coal to gas. From one fossil fuel to another. This is where their current gap is, not in renewables, although more renewables will close the gap smile.png. I'm hitting the issue right between the eyes here mate, it you who seems to be skating around it. Russia can't withhold solar power, for example (unless they decide to unleash a couple of nukes).

Still, new, cheap and efficient tech vs old, dirty and costly tech is what this debate should (and is) about. Bring on the future, I'm all bought up in the companies that are/will benefit from it. Giddy up!
