I'm wondering, have you ever studied (or even visited) the AEMO website? The demand and price is on display for all to see, including the energy source mix at the time.
Here's a link that you might find interesting.

It really has been no secret as to the cause of the high energy prices at the moment. Here's the hot tip; it has nothing to do with renewables! Well, that's not entirely accurate, it does have a lot to do with not having enough renewables!

The way I read it, the reason for high prices at the moment are:

    - High coal prices
    - High gas prices
    - Policies (stupidly) not reserving enough of our own gas for local consumption
    and
    - Clunky old coal-fired stations that aren't being maintained and are breaking down

When the sun is shining or the wind is blowing, the states that HAVE renewable generation benefit from super cheap prices, and the ability to export to caveman states such as QLD.

This is not a political argument. It is fact. We as holders should be willing AGL on to move into future tech yesterday. We will all stand to benefit from it.
