    I find no solace in battery tech today. its not as efficient as is needed, short and fast discharge that doesn't last. Li is not the best metal for the job imo. and too volatile, explosively so.

    new tech is in the making and will take over from Li battery tech soon enough. other forms of storage (kinetic) are more practical such a concrete blocks, pumped hydro, compressed air etc. and less toxic legacy. longer duration energy storage with higher energy density is required from batteries.

    hydrogen is a very pragmatic technology to replace LNG or at least add to gas to reduce emissions. and yes, it can be produced by using renewable energy sources, not as spillage but from dedicated wind/solar. if hydrogen is to be part of the energy mix the energy needs to produce hydrogen must be included.
