OK, I think I got a clearer picture as I was paying a very close attention of the last few days of trading (I wanted to top up CSL).
Here's what I think happened:
1) On Wednesday 19/12 - CSL closed at 178.15.
2) On Thursday morning 20/12, there was an unusually large sell volume which brought CSL open price down 1.18% to 176.05. I believe an insto was trying to short CSL. I checked on Shortman website & this was indeed the case (over 900k shares shorted, 54% of trading volume that day).
3) On Friday at the close 21/12, the shorter(s) felt too much resistant & decided to cover the short, hence the sudden jump at the close to 177.73.
Comments? I'm still learning, please don't shoot me down.
