A new indemnity scheme will allow GPs to administer the AstraZeneca vaccine to any adult who wants it regardless of their age, while national cabinet has also agreed to make it mandatory for all aged care workers to have at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine by September.
After an emergency meeting with the state and territory leaders on Monday evening, Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the Commonwealth will introduce a new no-fault vaccine injury indemnity scheme for GPs, allowing those who want an AstraZeneca vaccine to have that conversation with their doctor, including those under-40 not yet eligible for Pfizer.
