When I started out following markets in the the 80's I recall the rule of thumb being a PE <10 was cheap and a PE >10 expensive! Simplistic I know, but even so we dont talk of PE's of 15 being expensive anymore. Of course that relates to the way interest rates affect valuations which I have to constantly remind myself lest being caught in a historical valuation trap. I believe the All Ords index has an average PE of around 18 at present, CSL deserves a valuation premium for many reasons of course. I had a price in mind to buy CSL when things started going into melt down but It fell more than a little short.
Just wondering @madamswer where you get your All Ordinaries Accumulation data from? Is it available in table form? I have tried numeous times to find a source and either given up or got distracted or something. Thanks in advance.
