O neg and Bloodbank notified me (letter and phone call) after my 1st whole blood donation that I was Anti-D and asking if would donate plasma. Took a while to do a succesful plasma donation as my veins are not great (deep seated), but I now have a routine that works >95% of the time and staff know how to stick the needle in correctly. In Oz they can make you even more valuable by giving you some regular O+ blood injections to enhance the reaction and produce more Anti-D (they say in rare cases could multiply your natural Anti-D levels a 100 fold). In fact, they get most of their Anti-D donors now from people that are not Anti-D but willing to try the injections to see whether their body will respond and produce Anti-D - most don't. I don't qualify for the O+ blood injections as I have had cancer. So US could be missing out on this extra source of Anti-D. Would be worth them paying some extra $ for it.
