Asked my cousin who used to be in seafood farming business(shrimps). He reckons if they were bred with normal feed(not overly-genetically modified food, which farmers rarely do use), then about 3 years. Then depend on what sort of feed they use, they can speed up the process. A good 230-250kg NBT can sell for up to 1 million Taiwan dollars, divide that by 30 to get AUD equivalent.That excites me despite farmed fish being worth less.
After I had a conversation with him there are a number of things I've learnt, and I would like to share with everybody.
1.Weather is definitely one major risk.How well built are the sea cages? 2.Survival rate of fingerlings.Need to know a % if possible. 3.Resistance to diseases. But seawater fish usually are stronger than freshwater fish 4.Most importantly, Chinese are very good at stealing other people's inventions and duplicate it. If I was Hagen I would be investing every cent to keep my knowledge from being stolen.
