    G'day Siameseparrot.
Yeah it is only paper, but the trouble is when you go to the shop to buy your highly inflated groceries, then that is the only thing they will take.
Can you imagine the old days when you rolled up to the shop with an oz or two of gold dust in a Vegemite jar and you weighed out the correct number of grams right there on the counter??.
You cannot do it now so when the "unreal" money is lost by the shareholders it hurts like hell.
I did once buy a car with paper money and some gold. It was a $200 gold Koala coin back when gold wasn't worth much, and I was a couple of hundred $ short, so I dug it out and added it to the notes.
It caused a bit of a stir down at the caryard as no one they had seen had ever done that before, but they finally took it.
Wish I still had it as the car would be scrap metal now, probably reicarnated in the form of a Hyundai or something, but the coin would still have good value.

    Kind regards

    Lockitt
