It's not splitting hairs. It's being technically correct. I've seen this problem in the mining industry for many years, people mixing up troy ounces with avoirdupois ounces. We've always used 31 as the conversion factor in all the gold mines I've worked in. Companies use mgrams to indicate how many grams are in a metre drilled.eg., If there was an intersection of 100 g/t over 10cm this would equal 10 mgrams. They end up with a resource in kilos but this is coverted to ounces (troy ounces) to keep the US happy.
