It's possible to sole-risk wells even in a JV, especially if you're operator. Just present the partner with a notice of intent to drill a well and force their hand, either they stump up and come along for the ride or they refuse and CTP gets 100% of any discovery.
But that requires leadership, initiative and willingness to take on risk, and CTP has not shown much of any of them when it comes to exploration.
