Movie " Erin Brochovich " is well known, well made, popular movie detailing dishonest corrupt North American company polluting water poisoning people nearby. City employees are shown similarly dishonest and corrupt. Its based on recent real North American event. New book " Amity and Prosperity " by Eliza Griswold describes poisoning of people from frack fluid pond and dust impacts. It involves technical incompetence, dishonest, corrupt company behaviour and dishonest, corrupt, sociopathic government conduct, associated with illness, death, social schisms and disruption. It is based on contemorary real North American event. Its powerful drama and may well be made into movie / t.v.series / radio prorammes / documentaries etc. ( if it hasn't already been ). Well made the dramas will be credible, undermine public confidence, have an attitudinal / behavioural impact ulimately intensifying hostility to exploration. What this makes clear, again, is that industry has to be science based, systematically careful in exploration, highly skilled in field activities, honest, frank with shareholders / public / media etc., and making timely continuous disclosures. Long history of successfully and responsibly fracking in Australia isn't well known and disastrous incidents like those above are frequently sighted by anti-fracs to mobilise hostility to fracking here.
