But borrowing to buy the shares gives you even better leverage than the options.
Options could have some advantage over the borrowing strategy if you are unable to borrow, if borrowing costs are so high that any advantage will be lost (which hardly ever happens since the option price more than takes this into account), or if the share price falls so much that you end up being liable for more than your initial outlay if you borrow, whereas with the options the worst they can do is fall to zero.
