Ever been to China Camden Bob?

If you had you will know that they don't have a National Grid. Instead they have a national railway that rails billions of tonnes everywhere. So when storms hit the demand spikes, but the trains slow.

China has a lot of coal, and its not that they suddenly are running out that they rush to CTP. Dumping another few million tonnes of CTP coal in Shenzhen or Shanghai and expecting to be railed west to power stations isn't a simple solution.

Its facile to believe that there willbe anything even close to a rush for CTP coal. You may get some interest and attempts to get free options for exclusivity, but not the serious buying interest.

Everything in your article can be explained by the nature of Chinese infrastructure. Sure they prefer to try and keep as much of their own in the ground to still be around in the next 1000 years, so they buy others - plus their coal is very high ash, so 25% of the wagons drawn around the country literally are filled with ash, whereas Australian at less than say 12% is a big advantage as it represents an additional 17% of energy hauled around and 17% lower transport cost.

What you may get is someone agreeing to spend $x million on proving up of a resource, and a low $ royalty on mined coal, and an option for CTP to participate in any venture of they have the cash.

Just damn well get some oil to surface - all this other stuff is a crock.
