My understanding is that comparison to the Standard of Truth is achieved by taking a biopsy of the tumours that cu64 detects.

I also understand it to mean that these biopsies may be taken up to 16 weeks (I had thought days, but either way, its not long) after the cu64 scans.

I've surmised (and very happy to be corrected) that if cu64 is capable of detecting tumours as small as 2mm, that an individual with 10s or 100s of cu64-detected tumours is not going to have all of their tumours biopsied for ethical reasons.

Its the only reason I've come up with for why Clarity apparently needs such a huge number of patients (383). Its not like there is some other cause for a tumour to be highlighted in a PET scan, so 383 seems like massive overkill to achieve a satisfactory p-score. I can only guess that the plan is to take only a sample of tumour biopsies from each patient, hence more patients are needed.

Is it possible that a patient has a scan, their doctor learns enough from the scan to decide on a course of treatment and then the patient decides not to go through with the biopsies? Hard to blame a cancer patient for not wanting to be a voodoo doll ...
