Most shorters aren’t as great and smart as many punters on this platform make them out to be. For the most part, they’re simply the opposite of your average long investor/trader. Little analysis, chasing the crowd. Just like many so called “investors” will chase a stock that has already rallied several hundred per cent for no other reason than the share price has risen, many shorters will pile on a company simply because other shorters have already done so. They see a price that has been falling, and are hoping for essentially the “bigger fool” theory to play out. You could see the shorter frenzy over the past couple months, I’m guessing a fund manager or two who have been eyeing this company saw that as an opportune time to build a contrarian position in this stock, taking advantage of market irrationality. Best way to make money in the market IMO is to bet against it (when fundamentals warrant that of course)
